The Special Hex Nut was used extensively by John Deere. There were two major styles of this nut. Basic dimensions were identical. Most distinct was the top profile. The chamfer edge is a shallower angle on later nuts, with a broader, distinct flattened end. Deere retained the same part number throughout production. Our Special Hex Nut is the later profile as this nut was correct for the number series weight attachment hardware that we also produce. Most John Deere two cylinder tractors used approximately 16 of these nuts for various attachment points on the tractor. This nut, after machining, is then given a nickel finish.
